Welcome to Cooperative Education

The Mission of the Cooperative Education Office is to provide students with an opportunity for paid, practical, supervised, curriculum-related work experience through the cooperative education program.

The Objectives of the Cooperative Education Office are:

• To provide students with on-the-job, curriculum-related learning experience
• To support career development for students
• To coordinate cooperative education information with employers
• To maintain accurate cooperative education records and adhere to North Carolina Community College System guidelines
• To evaluate and improve the cooperative education program

Cooperative Education (Co-op) is an educational program. This course provides work experience with a college approved employer in an area related to the student’s program of study. Emphasis is placed on integrating classroom learning with related work experience. Upon completion, students should be able to evaluate career selection, demonstrate employability skills, and satisfactorily perform work-related competencies.
